Duplicate Page/Post — Elementor AI Ability (MCP Tool)

AI Abilities is a Premium Addons for Elementor feature that connects AI clients such as Claude, Cursor, and Codex to your WordPress site through a built-in MCP server. Each ability is one action the connected AI can perform on your site. This doc covers one of the Page/Post Management abilities: Duplicate Page/Post.

Duplicate Page/Post lets your AI client copy an existing page or post into a new draft, carrying over the content, the Elementor layout, the taxonomies, and the meta. The original stays untouched; the copy is a safe workspace.

This is the ability that makes experiments cheap. Any time you want the AI to rework something you already have, duplicating first means the live page keeps serving visitors while the AI edits the copy.

Before You Start

This ability is part of the AI Abilities feature. If you have not set it up yet, follow the Elementor AI Abilities (MCP Tools) Tutorial first to enable the feature and connect your AI client. The ability must also be switched on under Premium Addons → AI Abilities & MCP Config, in the Page/Post Management category:

Use Cases

Redesign without risk. Ask your AI client to “Duplicate my Services page and rebuild it using the available Premium Addons elements.” The AI copies the page, reworks the draft with richer widgets, and your live page stays exactly as it was until you approve the new version.

Create seasonal variants. Prompt “Duplicate the homepage and turn the copy into a Black Friday version: dark background, countdown timer, and a Premium Banner for the offer.” The AI builds the variant as a draft you publish when the sale starts.

Use a page as a starting template. Ask to “Duplicate my About page for the new team member and swap in their name, photo placeholders, and bio sections.” The structure carries over; the AI only touches the content.

Good to Know

• The copy is always created as a draft, whatever the original’s status, so a duplicate never goes live on its own.
• The duplicate is owned by the connected WordPress user, and that user must be allowed to edit the original.
• Content, Elementor data, taxonomies, and post meta all carry over. It uses the same duplicator Premium Addons runs in the WordPress admin.
• The output includes the Elementor editor link for the copy, so the AI moves straight from duplicating to editing.
