AI Abilities is a Premium Addons for Elementor feature that connects AI clients such as Claude, Cursor, and Codex to your WordPress site through a built-in MCP server. Each ability is one action the connected AI can perform on your site. This doc covers one of the Discovery abilities: Detect Atomic Support.
Detect Atomic Support lets your AI client find out which generation of Elementor your site builds with: the classic (v3) containers, or the newer v4 atomic elements. One call returns the answer plus a clear recommendation on which Build ability to use.
Elementor sites are split across these two worlds right now, and building with the wrong one fails. This check is how the AI picks the right lane before laying out anything.

Before You Start
This ability is part of the AI Abilities feature. If you have not set it up yet, follow the Elementor AI Abilities (MCP Tools) Tutorial first to enable the feature and connect your AI client. The ability must also be switched on under Premium Addons → MCP Config & AI Abilities, in the Discovery category:
Use Cases
Route every build correctly. Before “build me a landing page”, the AI runs this check once. Mode atomic means it lays out with premium-addons/add-flexbox; legacy means premium-addons/add-container. No wasted calls, no wrong-generation elements.
Explain your site’s state. Ask “Is my site on Elementor v4 yet?” and the AI answers from the check, with your Elementor version alongside.
Sanity-check after an update. After updating Elementor or flipping experiments, ask the AI to re-check; the recommended mode reflects what will actually save on the site right now.
Good to Know
- The check is based on what is actually registered: atomic support means the e-flexbox element exists (or the atomic experiment is on), because only registered element types survive an Elementor save.
- The
recommended_modefield is a direct instruction: atomic points topremium-addons/add-flexbox, legacy topremium-addons/add-container. - A site can support atomic while still holding v3 pages; the mode guides new building, and the reading abilities handle both generations either way.
Inputs
